«Tsars power symbols:
religion, every-day life, and traditions of Russian Tsars»
25 May 2010, the exhibition entitled «Tsars power symbols: religion, every-day life, and traditions of Russian Tsars» opened in Santiago, Chile at the Providencia Cultural Centre within the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Chile's Independence.
It is the second exhibition that the Moscow State Integrated Museum-Reserve sent to Chile. The first - «Soul of Russia in its Icon» - had a great success in Santiago in 2007.
Unique exhibits from the Moscow State Integrated Museum-Reserve stock make the basis of the new exhibition. The objects presented show the history, spiritual life, day-to-day activity, and cultural traditions of the Romanov dynasty that reigned over Russia for three hundred years.
Ancient icons, military armor, books and manuscripts, fabrics and church vestments, plates and dishes, pieces of furniture, and graphics are presented at the exhibition. The icon depicting regal passion bearers, Emperor Nikolay II and members of his family, and specially painted by the Museum’s request in 2008, became the central exhibit and symbol of the exhibition. A separate section of the exhibition is made up of the jewels collection of 19th - the beginnings of the 20th centuries from the State Historical Museum stock.

Exhibition of Russian art objects from two leading Russian museums collections became a grandiose event for the Chileans who have outlived an earthquake. This action gave a strong support to the citizens not only in cultural but also in humanitarian sphere.
The exhibition was opened by Mr. Yury Filatov, Russian Ambassador to Chile, and Don Osvaldo Rivera Riffo, Vice-President of Providencia Cultural Corporation.
At the opening ceremony, national anthems were performed, and opening speeches of Don Sebastián Piñera, President of the Republic of Chile, and Don Cristián Labbé, alcalde of Providencia commune, were read off. Delegations of Russian museums, ambassadors of governmental authorities, business league, military community, heads of diplomatic mission, well-known politicians, public and religious figures, journalists of leading TV-channels and print media, attended the exhibition opening ceremony (more than 2 thousand persons in whole).
